KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – World Blood Donor Day is a globally recognised observance gazetted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and celebrated every 14th June to honour the invaluable contributions of blood donors and the dedication of blood donation organisers.
The two-day event organised at both at Likas Sports Complex and Sabah International Convention Centre in collaboration with the Transfusion Medicine Service was coordinated by the Transfusion Medicine Department of Hospital Queen Elizabeth II, under the leadership of Dr. Shahnaz Irwani Binti Sabri.
The celebration was further strengthened through the generous support of various partnering and sponsoring organisations to enhance the reach and impact of this life-saving initiative.
The programme included public awareness campaigns; a Fun Walk, Zumba sessions, forums, Gen 20:25 activities, and exhibitions; an awards ceremony recognising outstanding blood donors and blood drive organisers which was officiated by Yang Amat Mulia Paduka Puteri Tunku Hajah Mariam Zaharah binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all blood donors, volunteers, and organizing partners for making this event a meaningful success.
